The French notion fil translates into both thread and conductive wire. Marion Fröhlich, Kristian Gohlke, and I founded FIL FORMAT to fit our interest in embedded systems, communication, and fashion. A prototype sweater that we created in 2005 indicates directions by controlling an array of small white LEDs incorporated in the fabric; presented at the 8th annual Profile Intermedia design conference.
